Spread the Sauce
Growing chillies and making sauce in Berlin has become very popular. This has been helped greatly by the Berlin Chili Fest. It brings together many like-minded chilli-heads and encourages people to experiment. The event has come a long way since starting with just a few stands about 10 years ago. It now happens at least twice a year and is busier every time. You can buy plants and sauces, as well as taste many chilli based foods. All swilled down with cool, fresh beer. Thanks to Neil from Chilipunk for organising the events.
The next Chilifest is on the weekend of 25 - 26 May 2024 (FB link here). It's at the Berliner Berg Brewery in Berlin. Come on down, it is always good fun.
I took part in one back in June 2021. It was a memorable day and a great experience. I met many other Berlin chilli-heads, who are a very friendly bunch and willing to share advice about producing and selling sauce. I am grateful to Justin from Not That Spicy for valuable advice about how to continue the quest (he also makes wonderful sauce, check his website).
